Wadsworth offers it's residents the high quality schools and services that you would expect in a larger city. Wadsworth has a population of 18,755, and was one of the first areas in the state to have an extensive community-wide fiber optics network. This network allows Wadsworth to operate its own cable system. Wadsworth has an active downtown, with many shops that allow residents to enjoy its unique period architecture. Fourteen well maintained parks offer residents and visitors beautiful sites for picnicking, fishing, or just relaxing, plus there is a new fitness path around the beautiful Memorial Park Lake.

In 1799 a five mile square of land was purchased by General Elijah Wadsworth. Early settlers came from Pennsylvania and Connecticut, and by 1817 the township was formed. Coal was discovered in the 1860's and changed Wadsworth from an agricultural community to an industrial community. Railroads were extended to this area to accommodate the transportation of coal. In 1866, Wadsworth was incorporated as a village. Many companies since the 1880's are still present. The Ohio Injector Company, the Ohio Match Company, and the Wadsworth Salt Company, now Morton Salt, all started in Wadsworth, however all of these companies have move to outlying communities.

Wadsworth City Schools currently provide curricula to serve over 4200 students. All schools will benefit from a recent $30,000,000 levy that has been passed, and two new elementary schools will built as well as a new middle school. The current middle school, Central Middle School will be renovated. Wadsworth High School will be expanded to include new music and communications classrooms. Currently Wadsworth High School enrolls 1292 students in grades nine through twelve, and over 300 certified staff members to serve the district. Wadsworth has one middle school and another is in the process of being built.
